The Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow mourned the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej

    (As of 2016-10-29)

On 17 October 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow held a solemn ceremony in remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Presiding over the ceremony, H.E. Dr. Kriangsak Kittichaisaree, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation, together with the heads of Team Thailand offices, as well as the diplomats and staff of the Embassy and their families, commemorated the gracious benovolence of His Majesty who was the soul of the Thai nation and His Majesty’s lifelong works that brought about the prosperity and well-being of all Thais. The ceremony was followed by a nine-minute moment of silence and the signing of the book of condolences.

In remembrance of the seventh day of the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, which falls on Thursday, 20 October 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Moscow City Government and the Administration of Gorky Park, organised a candlelight vigil at 18.00-18.30 hrs. by the Moskva River opposite the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. H.E. Dr. Kriangsak Kittichaisaree, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation, delivered his remarks in remembrance of the late King and led around 350 Thais and Friends of Thailand, among whom were the Director and Deputy Director of the Third Asian Department, as well as the Representative of the Moscow City Government, to sing the Royal Anthem.

Throughout the reign of His Majesty, King Bhumibol Adulyadej had been working tirelessly for the better livelihood of the Thai people. His Majesty’s initiatives and royal projects in water management, soil improvement, local fishery, plantation, and engineering, to name a few, were keys to Thailand’s sustainable development, and have been emulated in other countries. With His Majesty as the soul of the nation, Thailand has successfully weathered through the ebb and flow of national and global events, and achieved sustainable growth and stability. To all Thais, His Majesty will be forever beloved and revered.

After 70-year reign, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has passed away on 13 October 2016.
